At the AGM last October I was asked to make a cover for the switch panel to prevent the rocker switches from accidentally being switched. Yesterday, I managed to get around to making a start. The idea is that the cover is thick enough to enable the switches to be recessed, and that it's transparent so that the original panel can be seen through it. Here's some pix:-
Firstly, two adjacent sides machined to clean edges and set to be square.
Then opposite sides machined to size and chamfered all round. |
Set up an absolute datum in the corner with the orange marker and "zero shift"
the datum to positions over the work where the cut-outs are positioned. |
Twelve slots roughed out |
At this point Blogger has stopped me from enlarging the photos and adding a caption - BLOGGER!
Aha! Found a way around it - use Google Chrome!
Next is the small switch slot and the volt meter hole is chain drilled to
remove the centre
All the oval holes are now secondary roughed
to create four sides in each hole.
All holes finished to size and volt meter hole
bored and counter sunk (chamfered to match
the external edges)
It's not finished yet, all the slots need to be chamfered, not just to be aesthetically correct but also for user friendliness.
All slots chamfered |
A close-up. The white is a thin protective film
which peels off from both sides.

...And this is where it goes. I hope it fits. |
